T60 won't boot with any MiniPCIe card

I have a T60 (1951-44U) with a problem.
Without a wifi card, the machine works perfectly.
I have tried 3 different original IBM, working, Intel 3945ABG cards.
But when I put in a wifi-card, the machine starts to boot (W7-Pro), but then 'hangs' when the 4 colored W7 rectangles are supposed to start coming together.

I tried booting from a Live Linux CD ( Mint 8 ), and similar happens, it shows a 2-3 lines of loading Linux stuff, then shows 'Ready' and stops doing anything.
Without a card, Linux boots fine from that CD.

I'm stumped. Any ideas other than replacing the mobo?

Just a thought RBS, what happens if you leave the mPCI card in but do not connect the antennas?

Tried that already, suspecting an antenna-short.
Same results, so it's not the antenna.
I also checked the wifi-card's socket for loose/bent wiring, but that all seems to be OK.
Tried it with only one screw left, then one right, same problem.

I don't know if it's even possible, but I have this picture in my head of one of the slot's contacts bent out of shape, and when a card is inserted, it causes the bent contact to touch the one next to it causing a short circuit. Dunno, but just thinkin'...
