Wake on Lan - T60 / XP: How do I get this to work?

I want to use my T60 (Machine A) as a data server and have it connected by ethernet to my Buffalo WHR-HP-G54 wireless router. I have the stock Intel Pro/1000 PL network adapter configured like this:

Wake on Settings: Wake on Magic & Directed

Another T60 (Machine B, wirelessly connected), has a partition on the first T60 mapped as T: and it can see the data on Machine A. However when Machine A is put to sleep I'm finding that an attempt to see the data on the mapped Machine A partition from Machine B fails (i.e. Machine A remains asleep). The options for Wake on Settings on Machine A (the server machine) are these:

Disabled
OS Controlled
Wake on Directed Packet
Wake on Magic & Directed (the default, and that's what's selected now)
Wake on Magic Packet

There are lots of other properties in the Advanced tab for the ethernet adapter and they're all set to the defaults. Of possible interest (it seems to me) are Wake on Link Settings, maybe also Wait for Link.

Is there a way I can get this working?

I've been intrigued with this capability but have not really pursued it until now. With a T23 sitting on my wired network (powered off), and with the BIOS Network setting of Wake On LAN enabled, this DOS program running on an A31p was able to power up the system by sending it the "magic packet":

Note that you must supply the target machine's MAC address. If you can't/don't want to use a DOS program, then there's probably an equivalent Windows program around. I found this one by the following Google search: "send magic packet ethernet program download".

On the Adapter Properties>Advanced tab try setting:
ENABLE PME option to: ENABLED and
WAKE ON SETTINGS to: WAKE ON MAGIC PACKET
Also, on the POWER MANAGEMENT tab all three boxes should be checked.
Last week, setting up WOL on a T60 for the first time, WOL would not work until the PME setting was enabled (a setting which doesn't exist with the non-Intel T4x adapters).

But the more basic problem is I don't see where you're actually sending a MP to wake up the machine.
As rkawakami said, you'll need a program to generate the MP and the MAC address of the machine to be awoken.
I have used a free Windows program, Magic Packet Sender, for about three years in a HTPC setup, works great:

WOL also needs to be enabled in BIOS.

I realized that I'd posted in the wrong forum, not the one I intended, so I reposted in the intended forum (this one). Thank you.

I don't want to have to execute a program to wake up the machine. There would be times when I could do this, i.e. I'm at one of my other machines and want access to the sleeping T60. However, there are other times: I use a program that schedules recordings. I'll have to see if it succeeds in waking the machine from sleep. It does on my XP desktop, so I figure it probably will here too.

Well, I guess I could run a batch file when I want to waken the T60 from another machine but I'd prefer it if the machine would just wake up when a data request is made by a program on a different machine. Otherwise it may be more trouble than it's worth to have the machine go to sleep after X minutes of inactivity.

Thanks for the help here.

Looks pretty powerful and multifaceted. And it's freeware. Thanks.
