T60 fuse locations?

Did a search for this but I didn't find anything. I was just replacing the screen lid and LCD cable on a T60 1951-A22 non-widescreen model, and stupid me forgot that I had left the ac adapter plugged in. I was rearranging the wifi cables to clear the fan and doing it with a small screwdriver while I was on the phone...tip of the screwdriver touched the back of the ac jack causing a spark. Now, the battery will run on the battery just fine-but it doesn't recognize when the ac adapter is connected so it will not charge the battery or run the laptop with just the ac adapter connected.

I know from experience with the T4x series that one of the tiny surface mounted fuses probably blew to protect the system board, but I cannot find a listing of the fuses on the T6x system boards posted here like there is for the T4x models. So might anyone know of where I might find this information?

Usually, you blow F2, which is on the bottom, right under the power connector. The T60 used lead-free solder, so it will require a better, hotter iron that the T4x. They are hard to remove without a preheater and a rework station. If you don't have that sort of stuff, t is easier if you solder one on the top of the blown one.

they are made by littlefuse. They are available at Mouser.com for under $1. According to my notes, the number is 429007

Thank you very much for that information-I will tackle that this week and report back if that fixes the issue.

I know it has been quite a while, but tonight I finally remembered this had happened-so I removed the bottom casing of the T60 and found fuse F2 on the bottom of the system board. I soldered another F2 fuse from a spare failed T60 system board on top of this one, and it once again works perfectly. richk, thank you very much for the information!

I have the same problem (ac not recognised) and suspect the blown fuse.
Can you tell me how you took the bottom casing off? I'm guessing this is easier than removing the motherboard?

Many thanks,
Neil.

Download the illustrated Hardware Maintenance Manual (HMM), it's all in there:
