Did my T60p graphic card just die?

Hello there,

Here's the story: during the past months, my T60p (Type 2007 83G) has been running very hot (idle temps on GPU at around 75°C). Yesterday, I decided to shoot up a small game for the first time in months... and the GPU temps ramped up to 110°C! Nothing crashed, I stopped the game and used my laptop the rest of the evening and shut it down.

This morning, I tried to turn it on and this happened: http://youtu.be/_04wsHDJt8g

Fan begins to run, the HDD sign shows activity, but after 30s nothing happens. I tried to use an external monitor, but it didn't work. I also tried to remove the RAM and had the expected bips, so I guess my system board is still partially working.

So... Did my graphic card just die or do you think it could be the screen?

Any help greatly appreciated.

You've got corrupted VRAM in the graphics card.
You'll need a new motherboard. :(

Well, that had to happen someday... I guess I will buy a new motherboard.

Is it possible to upgrade in the process? I had the FireGL V5200 graphic card, is there any superior GPU / Motherboard that are compatible with the T60p chassis?

Thanks

There is also a mobo with the slightly more powerful ATI M66-256 V5250 GPU (FRU or P/N 41W1407)
However, to find the REAL deal will cost you!
Do NOT buy from eBayer dimitri-p, he sells only compatible boards, not the REAL thing!

There is also 42T0169, but this is for 15.4" widescreen and does not fit.
