#1 Post by ThinkPad » Mon May 09, 2011 4:51 pm

I have a T61P that I restored then upgrade to windows 7 Pro. Should I haave used the 32bit ro 64 bit version?

Secondly I do not have any of the drivers or thinkpad software, what can I do to download all the drivers and software?

Thanks

The real benefit of 64 bit is you can use more than 3GB of memory if you need it, but most don't need it in my experience.

I currently have 4gb RAM on my T61, running Windows 2003 server to make use of the 4GB ram. I run a lot of VMs.

do I need 64bit to make use of the 4gb RAM and how will I know if my CPU will support it?

thanks.

If you have 4gbs ram, you need the 64 bit version. Any T61/R61/X61 will run x64 software, as will any other system with a Core2Duo (Not Core Duo)
