Mini docking station - no power to USB?

So I bought an advanced mini docking station on eBay for my T61. And the USB ports don't work and don't have power at all (mouse does not work, neither the phone gets charged). VGA and headphone connectors work.

The eject button is always red, it's green only when the T61 is shutdown.

What could be the problem? The seller has a great rating. Could it be a driver problem?

That is normal. Red means it is not safe to eject the laptop. Try powering down the laptop and reseating it a few times in the dock. You have to push firmly at the back hinge area to get it to seat in the dock. You'll hear a distinctive 'click'

Thanks for the reply. Yes, but the USB ports don't work at all. I tried reseating the docking station - didn't help.

Well, there is no test that I am aware of for dock ports, so your choices are to find another dock to try or to return the one you have. The issue could be with the laptop docking port/systemboard as well. You need to test the dock you have with another machine or test the machine you have with another dock .

plugged in or on battery? The USB ports are in the dock are not ever powered by the laptop battery.

Plugged in. I tried everything, they just don't work .
