t60 no audio after fresh xp install - Solved

Did a fresh install of xp, downloaded drivers from lenovo site, including audio, no sound. I've got sound in linux. ---help !

Just after you installed XP, what was the next software you installed? If you did not install the Intel motherboard chipset driver first, then any and all other hardware drivers are very likely to work incorrectly. To put it differently, all the other hardware drivers depend on the Intel motherboard chipset driver to work properly.

Ben - got that - I didn't install chipset driver first, so I reinstalled chipset driver and then the audio driver but no go. Everything else ok.

Does "device manager" show the correct audio driver, correctly installed and working properly?

OK - solved - after downloading the audio driver even though i 'ran' it I had to go to start>run and then type in the path to the driver and THEN run it, then it installed sound max and I'm cooking. Thanks.
