Somewhat Silly Question

Hi All,

Question: If I were to replace the bottom case of a Thinkpad, which they sell online or directly from Lenovo's parts department, provided that I have the correct FRU, they come without labels. Is there a way of purchasing those labels/stickers?

I know, I know, kind of silly, but I like keeping most of the outer region of my machines stock looking. I don't need to do this as of the moment, but I had always wondered about this. I used to be able to purchase the labels for my Dell Inspiron 8200 when replacing the bottom casing directly from Dell.

Thank you!

If you buy a base from lenovo, it will come with the big lablels. The ones that are unique to your machine (model-serial, coa, network ID) are not included

Awesome! Thank you!

Is there a way to have Lenovo reprint the serial number information? I know this is taking it a tad too far... I know MAC address info and COA is out of the question since they are so unique.

Thank you!

No, a re-print is not available from Lenovo.

A hair dryer and a narrow putty knife (~1") will remove the Model/Type label and there will be enough adhesive left to stick to the new base. The MAC address labels and COA may need to be taped over or reglued. Have done it many times when replacing a base.

Patience is the key - get the label hot and slowly work the knife under it while continuing to apply heat.

The kit comes with a plethora of labels for different regions of the world. The closest you come to a label with your existing serial number is a white adhesive sticker of the same dimensions as the serial number sticker that you can fill out and attach if you want.
91011's suggestion sounds like an excellent one - perhaps I'll try this some day when I got the time :)

By the way, Lenovo also sell rubber feet and an ultrabay lever along with some other stuff in a separate kit - those are already included when purchasing a new bottom case, so no need to buy these separately.

Thank you all for all the invaluable information!!

What's funny is that I have the kit that comes with the other miscellaneous items, such as the feet, screws, power connector, heaink top brackets, and many many more :)
