Need help trouble shooting T60 motherboard fault.

Need a little help trouble shooting this T60 2007-73U.

Either with, or without a battery installed, when AC adapter is plugged in, the AC light comes on green and the battery light flashes amber then goes out. When the I/O button is pressed, the Num Lock, Caps Lock and Power On indicator lights come on momentarily, the CD-ROM spins and it's activity light flashes once, the CPU fan spins for a couple of seconds, then stops and the Power On and AC indicators stay lit. The LCD never lights up and nothing is displayed on either it or an external monitor. Once all that has happened the Power On indicator and AC status lights stay on until the I/O button is pressed again, and it shuts down completely.

I've tried the hard reset proceedure of pressing the power button ten times, then holding it. That didn't change anything. I've removed everything removable including RAM, and it does exactly the same way. No system beeps ever, even without RAM installed.

Seems to me there must be a problem with the system board, but is there anything else I can try or do that might help isolate the fault?

Try swapping the CPU.

Should that fail, you'll need a new board. Any planar that doesn't beep without RAM installed is likely as good as dead.

If that ends up being the case, PM me.

Good luck.
