500gig Hard Drive T61p error

#1 Post by Meta03 » Tue May 31, 2011 8:13 am

I bought a T61p and placed a 500 gig Western Digital hard drive that was in my T61 inside. It has a fresh Windows XP on it and checks out through BIOS ok, but when I try to boot from it, I get a blue error screen, about a second after Windows XP logo pops up, telling me the drive is bad. It works just fine in my T61. I made a firmware CD and ran it, but it said no updates needed. When I try to do a Windows XP install from a CD, it tells me there is no hard drive present.

Any suggestion what the problem could be?

Press F1 to go into BIOS, then check the SATA settings. If ACPI, change it to 'Compatible', or the other way around.
Check in the T61 what you have there, and set the T61p the same.
HTH.
