For my T60p, I've got a 90W AC/DC combo adapter (from 2006) P/N 40Y7649 FRU 40Y7656 but I cannot find my DC adapter cable. On the transformer, the connector is circular with 4 pins, which looks different from the images I've seen of the newer DC cables. I cannot find the rest of the original kit (the black bag and the DC adapter) so I'm looking to buy a replacement. Suggestions?

Doesn't the airplane adapter clip into the back of the cigarette lighter?
It should be there.
Lately I've only seen auto style adapters on airplanes but I guess it depends
on the airline.

Yeah, the part that plugs into the plane can almost always be a regular auto/cigarette style plug. What I cannot seem to find on-line or around my house is the correct plug on the other end. The transformer "brick" has a receptacle that shows 4 pins not uniformly distributed. They're in 2 rows of 2 but the spaces are wider in the lower row. What I need is a cable that has the cigarette lighter plug on one end and the proper 4-hole plug on the other.

What is the number on your adaptor. A picture might even be quicker. I bought an adaptor from the out let and it died. However, I didnt throw it away. I will look for it and maybe we can work something out. PM me if you like

I have that older 90W supply and there are no circular connectors on the Switch Mode Power Supply adapter itself. The DC input socket is a small 4 pin keyway type, with all 4 pin in line.

It sounds to me like you are describing the "EmPower"plug which is on the remote end of the DC cable that go to the power adapter....



In the delivery kit for the 90W travel adpter, there was a cigarette lighter plug that had an EmPower socket on the back, and the EmpPower plug was meant to go into that when using it in an autombile (or similar).

Bill: That's close. I can't seem to post an image here, but yours shows a set of pins that are similar to but not identical to what is on my adapter itself. The photo I tried to embed shows the connector that is a part of my adapter. The difference is that all 4 pins are the thicker kind like the upper 2 pins in your photo. The layout of the pins looks the same as yours but I don't know about size. My photo has a ruler in it, but I cannot figure out the syntax for embedding it. (Maybe the filepath/name needs to be surrounded by quotes or something.)

So what I'm looking for would have the lighter-plug on one end, and the end would have a plug with 4 holes in it that are laid out roughly as seen in your photo, but with all 4 holes designed for the thicker pins.

Slightly OT: You need to find a site to host your photo and then post a link to that picture. This forum does not support uploading any pictures. Some examples are:

photobucket.com
flickr.com
imageshack.com
your own ISP account may allow uploads to a personal web page/FTP site

Sign up for an account, upload the photo (keep it <50KB) and then post a link to it here. As an example:

<img>http://www.yourwebsite.com/photo.jpg</img>

Replace the "<" and ">" with "[" and "]".

The link I use to see the photo on Flickr doesn't end in JPG and it doesn't work to embed the URL I'm using. I e-mailed from Flickr to myself and got a different link, so now I'm trying that one here:

You have to right-click on the word "Image" in the prior message, and select "View".

That is a reasonably old adapter..... as far as I can tell its a T60 era device, and presumably was the first 20V DC output travel adapter, predating the more recent "slimline" travel adapters.

I have no idea where you find that sort of line socket.

Yeah, in the OP I noted that it was for a T60p. The machine is 5 years old and about to go out of warranty, but it still works well under XP for the software development I do on the Windows side of life.

If I'm lucky, somebody who has a burned out adapter will still have the cable lying around.
