#1 Post by Preduck » Wed Jun 01, 2011 9:05 pm

Ok, so I must be missing something because I've searched everywhere. I bought a t60p and it had linux on it. I installed xp on it but it's only showing I have 127 gig of a 320 hd. What am I missing here???

Did you completely wipe Linux from it? I dunno how the Linux was configured, but it might have had a 127GB root partition with the remainder as /home

When you installed XP you might not have freed up the all the space occupied by Linux.

Download and then boot from a GParted (special Linux CD, google for it), and see if it shows more then one partition on the hard drive, if so, you can delete the Linux ones, then resize the Windows partition to the entire drive.

Thanks, worked great! It showed there was an unformatted partition on it taking up the space.........I'm not the most computer tech guy, so I have no idea what it means, but now I have the space. Thanks for your help!

Yea, prolly leftover from the Linux... common problem prolly when people switch back to another OS.

Glad you got it sorted... happy computing :)
