So you hit the 'e' key and the volume increases. What happens if you hit the volume key? :) Is the Lenovo utility Keyboard customizer installed?

Has anything happened to the keyboard? Like water, things falling inside, etc. Keyboards generally don't just die for no reason, so I would give it a very good clean, inspect the bottom, reseat the connector, and check underneath the e key. (careful when taking keys off) To remove the keyboard unscrew the 5 screws on the bottom that have a keyboard symbol on them. Also give the keyboard a decent blast of canned air.
