Ultrabay Slim SATA HDD Adapter - what is included

I have bought second hand Ultrabay Slim SATA HDD Adapter on internet auction. I have received adapter, put sata drive in it and it seems to work well.

The problem is that that 2,5 inch drive is kind of loose in the adapter. I have taken my SATA drive from my X61t with the original basket (but without protective rubbers), put it in the adapter and now it seems to fit well.

My question: is the Ultrabay Slim SATA HDD Adapter sold alone or should there be some kind of basket or rails and screws to mount the drive in the adapter (it seems this way). I have few more days to return the adapter without any cost so I will appreciate fast answer. My guess is that I got it incomplete.

You probably aren't missing parts. Many/most of the adapters for sale are aftermarket ones that don't fit as well as the "real" ones. I usually use the aftermarket ones and they seem to work the same. THe ones for the T6 machines contain a PATA->SATA bridge. I must confess that I have not compared the speeds of the bridge circuits. There is a little flap at the back. If you want me to look at what you have, let me know via pm and I'll send you an email address to send me a picture

As far as I know, even the Lenovo adapters come with no caddy (basket). That's because Lenovo wants you to use their hard drives which do have them (but are overly expensive).

I've got an original adapter for my X200's UltraBase. It was second hand but I'm pretty sure I got everything. No caddy though. Even the pictures in manual simply show the drives already in caddies.

Some screws on sides usualy help. Or you can get a caddie on eBay (or Allegro :))

Pozdrawiam!

You absolutely need to get the caddy for it to fit tightly. Unless your notebook sits on a table all the time, the consequence of not getting a caddy is the movement of the drive will damage (ie loosen/crack the pin connectors) your motherboard. I really wouldnt walk around jiggling your notebook without the caddy. Get one on eBay.

By buying caddy (basket).
