i will probably sell or keep my t61 for small things........ if i fix it some day but i can probably buy second hand t61/t61p my question here is
is all t61p have IPS ? can u tell me exact model with ips i really need ips since t61 without ips sucks.
also is it any model in t61 which have ips or no?
i think 1680x* with nvidia quadro fx if i can find ips will be great for me ;)
p.s. my t61 suffered from bios corrupted flash via windows 7 stupid utility so i lost lost of money nerves and etc....... may be i need to start clean with second hand t61/t61p or even t400/500 series i dont know which have better lcd is it led better or is it ips better?!

Only the 15" LCDs in SXGA+ (1440x1050) or UXGA (1600x1200) and Standard aspect 4:3 were Flexview (and some 12.1" in the X6x series).
There never was a T61 or T61p with Flexview.
They 'died' out' with the T60/T60p.
And there are no widescreen Flexview machines in the Lenovo models.
What you can do, is put a T61 mobo in a 15" T60 chassis and put an IPS LCD in that.

There were no T61(p)s that came with an ips screen. Those stopped with the T60. While it is possible to mount a t61 motherboard in a t60 frame to get the IPS screen, it is a difficult task and still not a stock configuration. Only 15" 4:3 SXGA+ and UXGA T-series came with IPS screens. A Few of the x series (tablets and the X220) came with IPS Screens stock, but they are in the minority.

People tell me,What do you think of t61p with 1920x1200resolution? Its not ips so its may be not a led right ? Is it better than t61 with 1280x800 i mean colors and viewing angle is it better or same or even worst?

Resolution, IPS and LED are three different, completely uncorrelated features of the panel.

The 1920x1200 available on T61p is not IPS, and not LED.

Some of the panels available on T60/T60p were IPS but none of them were LED.

Most newer T series panels are LED but not IPS, regardless of resolution.

I don't know if there are any noticeable differences in colors and viewing angles between the 1280x800 and 1920x1200 panels on the T61/p.

so i think at least ppi is high ?

I used to have a Z61p with the 1920x1200 display, and while it's not IPS, it had excellent wide viewing angles and was a very nice display. But, I prefer the 4x3 ratio.

Well, I just have a 1920*1200 screen, but only the screen! I won it in an auction some months ago. I shortly tested it on my 4:3 T60 (yes, just connected the panel to the planar to check if it was working) and was very impressed by the high resolution. It just rocks! :thumbs-UP:

I'm eagerly waiting to find a barebone T61 or T60p to install this new screen!

So personally I would go for one, but it's a matter of taste. I know people that swear that 1024x768 on 15" ist the best that can happen :|

My 2 cents...

07/10 is from within the bad period, it's bound to fail.
You want a machine with date 08/09, 08/10 etc. and higher.

There were two types of WUXGA LCDs used in T61/p generation.

Samsung, which is horrendous and LG Phillips which is acceptable.

Without knowing what screen you're getting in advance I'd just forget the entire T61/p idea.

On the other hand, while not quite the same generation, Z61p was shipped with mostly if not exclusively LG Phillips screens and are therefore a pretty safe bet.

Personally, I'd save a few bucks and take my chances on a W500 or T500, which are far more reliable machines than any T61/p will ever be.

My $0.02 only...

I think t60 t61/p are last reliable with lots of magnesium and etc. After that quality is cheap.... I heard that they broke i also had nvs 140m on my t61 never gave me any problems 4 years since its created this laptop is dominating i expect same from t61p even with bad vga i hope they will replace it if its bad. I mean lenovo bugaria i hope they offer free repair for damaged

The W500, T500, T400 have the exact same magnesium alloy rollcage casing as the T61/T61p.

how about weight and battery life and most important t400 that i can get will be 1400x900 resolution so very small resolution and as far as i heard 570m of t61p is more powerfull from 3100m and how about battery life 3100m is more balanced power and battery life?
