Best place to buy a T60 battery?

I received a T60 from a friend with no battery. It is a 2007-DD1 which is based on the 2007-C7U. I have looked up the parts info at the following url:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... 62741.html
Sanyo 42T5246 replaces 92P1137
Panasonic 92P1139
Sony 92P1141
I have found sellers on ebay claiming new and/or OEM batteries in all of the above models. I have also read that batteries of other laptop models are compatible with the T60.
Is there a general feeling of one battery model being particularly desirable/undesirable? Basically is there any one in particular I should look for or stay away from?
Also, I have read of people ordering a battery only to find that it is an off brand and breaks soon after purchase. Which seller should I trust to buy from?
Thanks!
-Chris

Availability is spotty but the best place is the
Lenovo Outlet
They've got a 9 cell available.

The best prices are usually on ebay. The Panasonic batteries are generally considered superior to the others. If you get a battery from ebay that claims to be genuine and is not, you can dispute through Paypal. The worst case is you'd have to pay for shipping back. I've found if the picture looks good and it says it's genuine, then it usually is. I got a 6 cell battery for my R60 from the outlet for $35, but that was three years ago. The prices are higher these days.

Lenovo Outlet is a much wiser choice than eBay. You know you are getting the real enchilada.

Last Year I opted to purchase a 6 cell battery on eBay for travelling convenience, it was manufactured by Panasonic, I was delighted. This year, I purchased another T60p needing a battery, the same battery seller is now selling Samsung batteries. The Panasonic is very good, unfortunately I went and purchased from a different seller thinking they are all the same for a cheaper price.
My Panasonic came from this seller and I regret not purchasing from the same seller which I previously had positive transaction even though his present batteries are Samsung.

What I actually purchased from another seller was described as UK stock/Ships from UK etc etc, also the received product did not match the Listing photo, selling for approximately £22-£23, it is manufactured by BATSZ (Battery Shenzhen). This BATSZ battery had issues of fitting, it DOES NOT LOCK to the laptop. As yet I have no idea of its performance as I am still waiting for a T7600 CPU, 120GB SSD to be delivered before I can reassemble.
It seems many eBay sellers are beginning to use "Bait n Switch" as I also purchased a keyboard described with the P/N + FRU of the Manufacturer NMB but what I received was of an inferior quality.
If anyone have any further experiences of batteries by BATSZ, please offer to post your experience.
Everyone knows it's safer to purchase from Lenovo but their mark-up margin is just a bit too much.

I too was recently given a T60 without a battery. After testing the system thoroughly for problems and finding none, I ordered a 6 cell after market from ebay. I spent $25 USD on the lowest priced listing which turned out to be a Shenzhen BATSZ. The latch on mine seems a bit weak, but it does lock in place.
If you are using the ThinkVantage power manager, it will probably display a message to inform you that this is not a "genuine" Lenovo battery. I got about 3 hours of run time from a full charge before completely discharging it. Today is day two with the new BATSZ. It's a bit early yet to decide if this is a quality battery.
So far, so good and the warning message went away after a while. I will post updates here to let you all know if it completely fails, starts a fire, etc..

After inspecting the BATSZ battery locking latch, it seems to NOT lock because it has a slant on the side which is straight on a original battery. I took a file to this slant and now it locks but as yet I am still unable to test this battery as I have not finished assembling the laptop (I like to take them apart and clean every little bitsy parts, right down to the screws etc etc).
Maybe if I had purchased the Samsung, I would not be in a state of worry and to think that a peace of mind for a few Dollars more. So the lesson is not to skimp.

I couldn't agree more about the high price of laptop batteries and batteries in general. I suppose I might feel differently if I was in the battery business.
My Chinese made replacement battery has been through 3 discharge cycles so far with no problems. The annoying battery message has returned but it will charge if the battery drops below 97%. Actual run time is more like 2.5 hours with power conservation set to the max, wifi turned on.
Does anyone know if this delayed charge is a function of the Lenovo battery management program or if it is built into the hardware/bios?
Btw, my T60 is a model 2007-GEU with C2D T5600 cpu, 1400x1050 14in display, ATI x1300 graphics and 4gb ram.

I purchased a 9 cell Lenovo battery from this guy on ebay and happy with it so far.

I've heard bad things about knock offs so wanted to get an OEM battery.

There is one very good non oem battery, often better than oems and they are usually $39.95 for a 9 cell and cheaper for a 6 cell.
This company is contracted to make battery's for laptop builders with there names on them.
I have used there9 cell 7200ah batterys in my Toshiba for 2 years and am using a there 9 cell 7200ah in my T61 right now.
The ebay seler I use is novapcs and the battery to get from them is AGPTEK. It fits tighter than my Lenovo 6 cell made by Panasonic.
I would be more concerned about using an after market charger as they can burn up batterys and even start a fire!
IF YOU EVER FEEL EXCESSIVE HEAT COMING FROM ANY BATTERY IT IS TIME TO REPLACE IT OR THE CHARGING UNIT.
It is safe using small charging adapters that just meet the wattage needs of your laptop but if possible, I strongly recommend a factory charger at twice the wattage needed. It will run cooler, and last longer.

I've gotten my 6 cell from Staples about 2 years ago, Lenovo branded, and no problems with it so far. Looking at the site recently, they seem to sell only Lenmar's now - not sure if their quality/reliability is any good, but a lot cheaper than what I got my battery for.

I did see LENMAR in RadioShack too. Not saying that means quality, but it's not like they're being sold at DealExtreme.
Speaking of which, did LENMAR also do their own 12-cell behemoths like those I see on eBay? I'd have more faith in a LENMAR than those generic Chinese knock-offs.

I checked out that site and it appears if one is a
reseller, they'll give you an account on their site. That may not work for a lot of folks here (and elsewhere)

To update on my previous reply to Post.
Just ordered an OEM from Batteryworld889 (previous battery from this seller was a Panasonic) for US$34.44 as I feel unsafe with the BATZ version.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140595995079? ... 1423.l2649
Seller also lists Original batteries for US$62.50

Both batteries have free-shipping, both are 6 cells.

Just finished my Build, checked the Batteryworld889 OEM product, it is manufactured by Sanyo. I am very pleased with the purchased item.
As everyone who uses batteries on an everyday basis (CandlePowerForum members) would vouch that Sanyo and Pansonic are the two manufacturers of the best quality batteries available on the market at present. Soldiers who use tactical flashlight on their raffles will not use any other manufacturers batteries as their lives may just depend on the qualities of these items.
These OEM Sanyo batteries, if not surpass, it is at least equal to the Original IBM products.

Indeed this may be the case, however collective experience of Thinkpad users suggest that in terms of longevity there are significant differences even among these two players (Panasonics generally fare much better over time than Sanyos).

I bought a BATZ battery for my T60, it was brand new and I never got more than about 45mins of a charge out of it right off the bat. Then it died on me about 2 months after buying it. I was able to get it replaced from the vendor who sold it, but even that battery isn't getting more 1.5 hours max on it.
Anyway, I've had good luck buying batteries from this person

I also purchased a BATZ battery unknowingly (photo not of the delivered item). After one Week of usage, I purchased this present Sanyo, not because of the run-time of the product but more for fear it just may be detrimental to my ThinkPad. I'm not saying that BATZ products are no good or dangerous, it's just a matter of my faith in the product also my protectiveness of my precious.
As I mostly use Mains power supply, run-time is insignificant but safety is paramount.

The only non Lenovo branded battery i would use with the T60 would be the Boston Power one that has 3 years warranty attached to it.
You may still find some Panasonic battery on the market, but they are very rare now and probably been kept in storage for too long. Sony is a slightly better choice then Sanyo in that battery model, but only slightly better. Panasonic still rules.

AFAIK, they are still in production, under FRU 42T4620.

But there is a higher probability that either a Sanyo or Sony gets sent to you.

In the past Lenovo gave options to order parts by FRU, and then you are getting exactly the FRU number you ordered (unless they tell you its unavailable, and offer a replacement FRU).

I can not in any way recommend batteryworld889 for online purchase of spareparts.
I ordered a Lenovo X300 LED panel last from batteryworld889 via eBay last year and and received a Sony panel...!
I contacted the seller several times but did not get any replies. I returned the Sony panel to the seller in China (which was pretty expensive!) but received neither a Lenovo display nor my money back or shipping costs for returning the item in accordance with sellers specified policies.
So think twice before using batteryworld889 for thinkpad parts.
