New battery won't charge past certain %
New battery won't charge past certain %
I just bought a brand new (no name) replacement 9-Cell battery off Ebay. Instructions say to fully charge and then discharge. The battery won't charge past 82%. I read somewhere to remove battery so that computer can reset the charge sensor but that didn't seem to work.
I've rebooted, I've discharged twice (once to 30% and one to 10%) and each time it stops at 82%.
I'm wondering whether it is a gauge error or if it just won't charge past it.

Re: New battery won't charge past certain %
I'd definitely consider a battery gauge reset through Power Manager.

Uninstall Power Manager, install BatteryCare, and try charging again.

P.S. Couldn't remember if Power Management driver has to be uninstalled as well, or not.
Cheers.

Thanks for the help. Battery Gauge reset did not seem to work (seeing as how it wouldn't allow it to charge past 82% it just stalled there).
I'll try your suggestion, loyukfai.

Re: New battery won't charge past certain %
BatteryCare thinks it's 81%. It charges it from whatever it's at to 81% but doesn't go beyond that.loyukfai wrote:Uninstall Power Manager, install BatteryCare, and try charging again.

Thanks but it's an XP. That seems to be a problem with charging which this isn't.zchen wrote:If you are running Windows 7, also try this

Re: New battery won't charge past certain %
Last time an X41T doesn't charge its battery beyond a certain percentage, and upon a recommendation from another forumer, I gave BatteryCare a try and it charges the battery to 100% again.

You may like to ask for a replacement from the seller...?
Cheers.
