I purchased a 1tb Western Digital Scorpio Blue from Newegg, only to find out it is too thick to fit into my T61.

What is the largest drive that currently fits into this model?

Maximum height: 9.5mm. [Probably you received a 12mm drive.]

It's not the largest but I've had some really great luck with the drives from Seagate. Their biggest laptop internal drive is 750GB at 7200 RPM. I'm currently running two Momentus XT 500GB 7200 rpm. The 32MB buffer cache on the XT rocks. An if you are doing any heavy duty installations you will notice a signifiacant difference. My t61p w/8GB RAM with dual 500GB XTs went nose to nose against W510 w/16GB RAM and 2 Momentus 500GB 7200 rpm (non XT), 16MB cache and blew the W510 out of the water on database installs, app servers, web s ervers and java apps.

I gave up size for performance and what difference
