T61/Win7 Ultimate 64bit - Blue screens upon resume

Had it around 6 months (factory refurb), don't recall a similar problem. Came with Vista Business (CoA), pulled HD and installed new HD and then Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have the machine configured to go into suspend when I close the lid. When I lift the lid the last 2 days it resumes, things look fine for ~5 seconds and then this blue screen appears:

After around 10 seconds the machine spontaneously reboots (that's why I took the picture, so I could read it) and I'm offered Normal Windows start, Safe, Safe with command prompt. After Windows starts it offers to look for a solution (hasn't helped yet) or show me more details about the problem, which looks like this:

I'm unaware of having installed something that would cause the problem, but maybe I installed something. There's no new hardware. What can I do/try here?

I've tried a bunch of stuff but the blue screens still come every time. I restored Windows 7 to a previous state, a state that predated the crashes by more than two weeks, but it still happens. That was done in a Windows tool, so I don't know how effective it is. I didn't make Ghost images of the OS, unfortunately. I really don't know what to try next but I figure I can try reinstalling Windows 7 from the disk. It's a big hassle to reinstall everything, of course, but I don't know what else I can try. There's just no clue what's wrong.

Is it possible there will be something in the dump referred to in the OP by Windows that will give me an idea what's wrong? Windows many time asked me to click a button that would send Microsoft information about the crash in order to look for a solution, but it never finds one. :|

Before I install Windows from scratch I figure I should make a backup of the disk, either with Ghost of Western Digital Acronis, in case it turns out that a reinstall of Windows doesn't resolve the problem but something else does, such as replacement of some hardware part...

Install WhoCrashed from Resplendence Software, and load the minidump into it. Identify the offending driver and see if you can 1) update it 2) remove it 3) disable it.

Wow (not usually in my vocabulary!)! I'm perplexed, but relieved -- the crashes have suddenly and unexpectedly stopped. I wake up at 2:00 AM with the thought that I should go into Uninstall Programs and start removing one at a time and retest until the crashes cease. But first I execute another plan:

Remove the HD with Windows 7 on it and replace with the set-aside HD (the original one that came with the T61) which has Vista Business on it and see if I get crashes. If the crashes persist, I can assume I have a hardware issue, if not, a software issue, is the thinking.

So, I put the Vista HD in there, no crashes. I replace with the Windows 7 HD, start it up and as usual I get a message that Windows closed unexpectedly, I should choose means of starting:

Safe
Safe with Networking
Safe with Command Prompt
Normal

I choose Normal, as usual (I tried Safe once a couple of days ago for the hell of it), and immediately go into Uninstall Programs and reorder them by date installed. Around 6 programs are dated yesterday (6/28/11) and everything else from 5/11/11 and back. The crashes started about 6/26/11, though. I figure I'll have to start removing them one by one starting from the top. Just to make sure it's still crashing I close the lid, let it go into suspend and raise the lid expecting a blue screen in about 5 seconds, per usual. No blue screen! I close Uninstall Programs and retest. Still no blue screen. The problem, whatever it was has taken a vacation or maybe vacated entirely. I don't know what to think. :banana: :bow: :jhem:

After the first bootup that didn't have a subsequent crash I believe I was again presented by Windows with the opportunity to search for a solution, and I said OK, as usual (it never helped before, but why not?). I saw nothing to indicate that this had a different result than before, and assumed crashes were imminent if I went into suspend and tried a resume. Perhaps something was found this time (although I got no indication). Maybe some problem had been worked out in driverdom??? :wink: :?

I just downloaded Whocrashed Free 3.01 and figure I can run this and it will analyze my crash dump file(s) and maybe tell me or give me a clue what was happening....

Edit: Whocrashed indicates that 6 crashes I had yesterday (I'm sure there were way more???) implicated ianvstor.sys. I don't know what this is but web searches indicate several people have had crashing problems implicating ianvstor.sys. It may have to do with Turbo Memory. :? WhoCrashed says it's likely involved with the Intel Turbo Memory driver. I guess I'll look for an update for it....

Edit2: In Device Manager there's an Intel Turbo Memory Controller item and when I go to update the driver there's a button for Windows to search the computer and online for an updated driver. After a minute Windows reports that my driver is up to date. Hmm.

The problem disappeared basically as mysteriously as it appeared. Dunno...

The only logical solution would have been a bad/dirty hard disk connection, because the problem stopped after swapping the old Vista HD in/out and re-inserting the W7 HD.

If it were my system I'd just remove the Turbo Memory, and any drivers for it..... it does next to nothing of value anyway.
