I have a T61.
Yesterday i noticed that when I open Thinkvantage Power Manager all the letters and characters have disappeared and have been replaced by small squares.
I have removed and re-installed.
There is still no letters or characters.
Any ideas?
Ta.

My guess would be that your language settings have been disturbed. Check Control Panel/Regional and Language Options/Advanced tab. You might want to switch between English(US) and English(UK) and see if that helps.

Nearly right rkawakami, not quite, but thanks for putting me onto the right track.
I changed language a few times without success, then eventually decided to install eastern language and right-to left etc language packs and a bunch of code page conversion tables too.
This sorted it, i can only imagine that the programmers used some sort of non-western alphabet setup or other non standard character coding to write this particular piece of software.
After installing a bunch of new packs and restarting, everything came back to normal.
As for the reason it went square in the first place, we can only speculate.
For anyone else with a similar problem the list of langauges i installed is below, if i can be bothered i will uninstall a few and see if i can work out exactly which one it was that fixed my issue.
Control Panel/Regional and Langauge Options/Langauges (TAB)
Check both boxes for:
Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)
and
Install files for East Asian Languages
Restart.
If this does not remedy the problem try this:
Go to Control Panel/Regional and Langauge Options/Advanced (TAB)
Check boxes next to every 'Code page conversion tables' entry that has 'IBM EBCDIC' in brackets after the code number.
Restart.
EDIT - I just removed all of the IBM EBCDIC entries from the code page tables list, all text is still normal with Thinkvantage Power Manager. Suggestst the first part of the remedy is the only bit needed.
