$220.00 T60 on woot
Hi guys
Didn't know if anyone has seen this today but woot is offering a refurbished T60 with docking station for $219.99 + $5.00 shipping. It carries a 3 month Lenovo warranty and is listed as being an off lease model.
This seems like one heck of a good deal to me, but could someone who knows tell me if it is?
I've always used the T23 and T43 computers so I don't know much about the T60.
I'd like to pull the trigger on at least one of these but not if the T60 is a problematic machine.
If someone can answer quickly I would appreciate it. The deal could sell out at any time and at midnight tonight it will no longer be offered.
Thanks in advance.
Dave

Well here is a review on it: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-IBM ... 294.0.html
Also its resolution is 1024x768 which is low by today standard, unless you are going to buy a new screen for it.

Well, IBM currently has the 1952-AP2 on the Certified Used Equipment site For $319, free ship but they do get you for tax. Recently all the Thinkpads were 20% off so this model would have been about $255....I think the sale ended today. Same warranty, but no dock. So by comparison, the $225 that Woot wants looks pretty good. It is definitely not a bad price for a refurb, although you could find more machine for the same money in the marketplace forum, or on eBay if you're willing to take a chance.likesspace wrote:

IBM:

Keep in mind that the 1952-AP2 has the XGA screen, Intel graphics, a pretty small HDD, the smaller battery, etc. In other words it is not a high-end T60. Probably not a bad general machine though. T60s are good computers.
There must be a lot of these out there......IBM has had them listed forever, as have a few other discount sites.
Good luck.

Re: $220.00 T60 on woot
Hey, thanks a lot for the quick replies!
After doing some reading on the review site I decided to go ahead and buy 3 of the T60's. Our family is running everything from an old T23 (our 10 year old daughter) to 1 T42 (I use this for a weather station computer) to 3 T43s that see everyday use. All of the computers are dual booted with Windows XP and Linux Mint. We all agree that we'd rather have an old Thinkpad than any of the newer big box brands since they work really well with very few problems.
We started out with Thinkpads about 7 years ago with 5 of the T23 machines. Along the way the T23s died one by one, mostly due to fan failures. As stated before I do have one of the T23 machines that is still working and that is probably due to my re-soldering of an.....ummm...inductor? on the bottom of the mother board and an application of thermal paste. That particular machine is still working great and is in daily use by my daughter.
I wasn't overly thrilled about spending $665.00 today but sheesh.....even a Compaq or HP at Walmart will cost around $400.00. Considering that fact I guess I don't feel too bad about getting 3 quality computers for the price of 1-1/2 of the big box, crap computers.
Thanks again to those who responded to my post. Hopefully these computers will be in excellent condition once they arrive.

Can I simply swap out my T5500 CPU in my 1953CTO T60 with a T5600? Or my T2400 core duo in my 2623D6U T60?
