Hi, new to the forums here, so bear with me please!

i have a 15.4" WUXGA (1920x1600) T61p. problem is i am not too keen on this matte panel, not only is it grainy the viewing angles are poor. its ok for most people but im a bit ocd like that!

does anyone know where i can get a gloss replacement LCD panel??? google is proving hard to find anything out and i've already ran a search on the forums with no luck apart from this gem: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... 28&start=0

so i know its possible, but what exact part is this?? does anybody have any tips please?

first, welcome to the forum..

next, if it were me i would not want a glossy display..
unless you really like lights reflecting off your display..

just my own opinion..

The R61i was available with a 15.4" TFT display 1280x800 (WXGA) resolution, glossy. It would fit and work in your ThinkPad, but like Bill said, it would be a huge downgrade. Anyway, if you check ebay for the above glossy screen, you could get one and try it out.

i've used other thinkpads with matte screens before and use one for work aswell (i think a X200). mostly matte screens i am fine with, but this one is particularly bad, i think there is a history of people being dissapointed with the matte screen on t61p.

the R61i screen is an option, however the 1280x800 res is a bit disappointing. plus would that cause any issues with porting it over? are there any other options closer to the original res? anybody have any clues as to the one used in the thread i mentioned earlier?

i have two T61p's WUXGA and have never thought them to be dim or otherwise challenged..

oh really? well i have also heard(dont quote me on this!) that they used two types of panels in the t61p, samsung and LG and apparently the LG ones were better. is there anyway to check which panel you have?

a bit of an update; i am finding it difficult to find any good hits for replacement t61p screens at 1920x1200, but i can find loads of other screens at this resolution but from different makes and laptops, notably i find a lot from dell laptops. now i know some things can be interchanged for example: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo- ... een-2.html

this guy replaced his matte t61p screen (1650x1050) with a dell lcd screen of a glossy type and it works no problems. Does anyone know of any other makes of 15.4" screens that would be compatible with the t61p (WUXGA)? something that is a bit more readily available. is there a compatibility list somewhere?
