Hi
am I out of luck if my t60 doesnt have a BT card if I want to install one.
Will I need to change the flat display cable as well?
T60 specs in my signature.

Not at all! You need to remove the LCD bezel to check if the LCD cable has a BT connector. If it does not, then you can change the LCD cable and add the BT module ...
HOWEVER, something like the following is far simpler, virtually invisible, and virtually free!

Possibly - It maybe so that as your T60 does not have a BT card installed the LCD cable does not have the BT connector mounted - You need to eye-ball this to confirm - However, I have come across several T60's (mainly CTO models) which do not have a BT card installed but do have the BT connector on the LCD ribbon cable - So it was just a matter of obtaining the BT card are plugging to the BT connector.

I'd rather not open the bazel at this stage.
I could open the keyboard though - is there any way of telling if the connector is there by counting the wires/pists in of the flat cable where it connects to MB?
@EOMtp: I know about these - I have one, but if it is possible to embed BT, it would be nice.

Unfortunately the only way I know of, is by actually eye-balling the BT connector LCD ribbon cable.

I absolutely agree with EOMtp that you should use a Bluetooth USB dongle. There is no good reason to open up your computer when such a simple solution exists.
Although many of these dongles are dirt cheap, many of them have issues, including poor compatibility with various OSs, and lack of support.
On this Amazon page (where you don't have to order from Hong Kong) you will find a dongle which is highly rated by its users. Don't overlook the value of Amazon user reviews. They're a bit more expensive than the ones from Hong Kong, but you get real support and good functioning.

These devices are very small, and only use up a USB port.
