T61 LCD issue

Hi everybody,

I am really satisfied with my T61 and never had any issues so far but today something really annoying started happening.

The taskbar of my Windows 7 started flashing over equal intervals of time showing some other part of the screen for part of the second. I tried connecting to external display and it was gone so I presume that the issue is either with the inverter or with the LCD panel itself.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

P.S. The issue is gone when I am using the notebook on battery...

If your machine has nVidia graphics, it's most likely that the GPU is dying. Many, many posts about this.
Only solution: a new motherboard. Send it in if still under warranty.

My graphics are from Intel and I have tried using external display to rule out GPU failure.

Thanks for the reply.

Actually I have the 140M issue and on external monitor everything is fine, but Thinkpad LCD doesn't work. So, nvidia issue IS possible that way.

As for your issue, check with another adapter and AC jack to see if there is a short somewhere.
