T60P Keyboard in a T61

#1 Post by Harryc » Thu Jul 21, 2011 3:00 pm

Will a T60P keyboard (FRU 39T0958) fit into a 14'1" Widescreen T61?

In fact, all keyboards between T60 and T61 are fully compatible to each other, and they are completely interchangable.
This also applies to the keyboards used in the T400/T500 machines, which are interchangable with their T60/T61 brethren.

This is also true regardless of the form factor of the machine, as they all share the very same keyboard dimensions.

If you wish to have the best components for your Thinkpad, the NMB FRU#42T3143 is the better keyboard. To most people, the difference in the key-press is not so distinguishable, but if you type frequently, you will realize there is a slight difference.
For all information of all types of keyboards including Thinkpads, visit Geekhack.org, they would be happy to answer any questions you may wish to ask.
Often outspoken, please forgive any cause for offense.
Thank you all for reading.

very good information to know!

Just starting to search, but it would be nice to know (or find a matrix) of what other parts are interchangeable between models (T60>T61, or T61>T400 etc). For example I just realized today that the palmrest for the T61 14 wide screen model is the same part (maybe a different FRU) than what is used in the T400 14 wide screen model.

But anyway, thanks!
