Right, so my t61p is out of warranty feb 2011 6457-5GG with Nvidia Quadro 570m 1920x1200 screen which I LOVE.

The system crashed yesterday (GPU).

Lenovo wants EUR 613 for a new mainboard. My old board was a 42W7653 and they want to sell me a 43Y9048 mainboard. The price is JUST for the board, no shipping, and me replacing it.

So... how about getting a new Nvidia chip at ~ USD 40 and replacing it myself on the board?
-Possible?

What are your thoughts?

Another option is to get one at EUR 200 from Asia, or some .de shop, but then I don't know which type mainboard I need, since they do not seem to have the 2 above mentioned. Are there other p/n that would fit my machine?

This is not something you can do yourself. Take a look at the video's at this website and you'll understand why.

i was also thinking a lot of this idea replacing by my own and/or by an reballing service and i ve starded researching for the gpu.

as far as i could conclude, it is pretty much time consuming to search an unsoltered or a new 570m gpu.
with extremely good luck there is maybe the one or other wholesales in china which has still the one or other.
but than again, they will possibly charge you a proud price. however after several hours of research i quit the idea.

maybe the most likely is to find a board from 08/08 or later.
