Hi
I tried to reinstall my OS ( vista) using my recovery disc as laptop has become very slow. So i tried to reinstall using recovery discs. But the thing is system is not able to retreive OS from Recovery CDs and now it is incomplete. I am getting a dialogue to complete the installation or to reinstall the OS. I have the recovery Cds but not working. I don't have other CDs. Plz guide me what to do to get back my system softwares and OS.

T60 ( T5500) recovery discs not working
Re: T60 ( T5500) recovery discs not working
I also have a T5500 T60 and successfully restored the factory default installation from the recovery CDs. I assume you made these recovery discs. Didn't the machine have XP on it when you made the discs?
My set consists of a Startup disc and 6 recovery discs labeled Product Recovery Disc, one through six. When you boot to the Startup disc you will have the option to recover to factory defaults. If you need guidance in doing this, say so, and I'll go into Rescue and Recovery and make note of the sequence you must follow to restore to factory defaults. I'm assume that you do indeed want to restore to factory defaults. Is that the case?
If you have data on the HD that you want to retain, and you do want to restore to factory defaults, you are going to have to remove the HD prior to the OS restore and access the HD from a different machine and copy the data.

Re: T60 ( T5500) recovery discs not working
thank alot for your quick reply...
My T60 came with Windows Vista only. I made recovery disc ( total 4 discs- 3 Cds n 1 DVD). The same was asked by system only while preparing Recovery discs. I did first time successfully. But after one year i used the same discs it is not first recognizing the discs. Again tried to keep the disc by cleaining and on trying it is reading the disc but it is not reading operating system. It is directing going to reinstall applications and drivers and then supplementary discs. Now it is starting but immediately i am getting a dialogue box saying "incomplete installation. try to reinstall the operating system." Good thing i did is i already copied all my data to HD and tried this. There is no loss of data. But the thing is i am not able to use my system. Plz help me out..

Re: T60 ( T5500) recovery discs not working
Did you restore to factory defaults using the R&R discs? You should have that option. It's probably not entirely obvious how you do that, but it's there if you navigate the menus "correctly." Good luck. Is it Rescue and Recovery 4 that is running when you boot from the R&R startup disc?
