So my Nvidia Quadro on my t61p crashed out of warranty... nothing from Lenovo except a possible EUR 611 bill for JUST the mainboard....

Well, I figured "what the h*ll" and follow some video on youtube........

I took the mainboard out, stripped it as much as I could and BAKED it in my pre-heated oven for 9 minutes at 220 Celcius.

Here I am typing on it. It seems to work, yet I do NOT know for how long. So first thing was back up what I hadn't done earlier.

Also, I just played World of Warcraft for about an hour (ran a dungeon, heavy on GPU at high settings), let it cool down and it still works.

I will keep you posted on how long it lasts. I have another t60p so if the 61 crashes I will post it here.

I've been down this road with my Xbox. The GPU began to come unsoldered. I did a similar solution to have it work for a week or two and I was back to square one. I hope you have better luck, at least you got it running again.

Minor thread zombificaiton.

I just bought a T61p on eBay with an FX570M. Listed as working and with a 9-month warranty from the seller, but we all know how those warranties work, so I'm not holding my breath. Is your 'p still rolling with a baked board? If/when my Quadro fails (most likely after 10 months), I'll bake it. I guess you didn't have trouble with the plastics melting?

Darn, dropped the laptop.
Baked the mainboard again, this time (STUPID STUPID STUPID STUPID me) without "protective tin foil on all areas except the GPU..... melted the plastic... ruined....

Ouch, lesson well learned.

Waiting for money to buy a new mainboard.
