Confused about the ATI Radeon

To put it simply, I recently bought two T60s, both 1024x768 with X1300s. They both play StarCraft II decently (I tend to leave effects on low but I have bumped textures to high with 45 FPS).

I know certain T60s have a X1400, the same one an R60 I once used had. Most of the research I've found is that X1400s are only equipped on T60s with 1400 X 1050 LCDs. Just out of curiosity, are there any T60s that have a XGA LCD with an X1400 similar to the R60 I once had?

No, all X1400 came with SXGA+.
However, it is possible to put an XGA screen on such a machine (but why would anyone?).

I see, thanks.

As for that question, my best guess is that very few games benefit from a SXGA+ screen resolution. Unless one has tons of addons to WoW (And SC II tends to benefit from a widescreen aspect ratio than anything). In addition LCDs look best at a native resolution.

Although realistically the X1300/X1400's weakness are shaders so I figure there isn't a reason to go any higher than an X1300.

SXGA+ IS the native solution of the LCD (1400x1050).
It shows more content than an XGA screen, which is optimal for browsing (IMHO).
Besides, not everybody does just browsing and email on a laptop.
Plenty of business apps that require a higher resolution.

I browse on my desktop in 1080P and to me I tend to shrink my window down to a width of ~1100 because the centering makes a huge waste of space. My opinion nonetheless.

Both the R60 (not currently in possession) and the two T60s are XGA panels. Even according to the Lenovo site when using my Type 2007 (cut to avoid text walls):

...14.1in 1024x768 LCD, 64MB ATI Radeon X1300...

LCDs are known for being blocky when not in native resolution, so...

In its native resolution,an LCD display at its best.
You don't seem to understand this:
there are LCDs with native XGA, native SXGA+, native UXGA, plus all the widescreen varieties and more.
An native XGA LCD cannot display the higher SXGA+, but e.g. an SXGA+ can display XGA, albeit not as sharp as its native 1400x1050.
The graphics card is the least relevant in such a combination.
The X1300 can display anything between 600x480 and well over 2000x1600 (don't have the figures at hand)
The X1400 does the same, except it has twice the graphics RAM from the X1300.
So you can hang any LCD onto either GPU.
And so on.

I'm just saying you told me my panel physically is capable of SXGA+ when it was not.

I don't see anywhere that I told you your XGA LCD is capable of SXGA+!
I said the GPU (X1300/X1400) is capable of displaying XGA and higher resolutions, NOT that your XGA LCD can display higher than its native (1024x768) resolution!
