I'm considering replacing my Hitachi 320GB 7200rpm for a WD 1TB 5400rpm (
link). Will Windows 7 32bit run slower on this 5400rpm than my current 7200rpm?

Depending on how old your Hitachi is, the WD might have faster throughput, but the latency will be higher. It's the latency more so than the throughput that makes it seem faster or slower. Another option would be to the the modular caddy to replace the optical drive and put WD in there. Then you could keep the Hitachi as the boot drive.

According to
this user feedback af Newegg the drive performs pretty good in 5-year-old Lenovo 3000 C200 with a fresh Win7 x64 installation. However, another user claims the drive be be relatively noisy; see
this user feedback at Amazon.

I'm running WD scorpio blue 500GB for 2 years now as my main drive. Overall good performance, no complains. Few day ago, ordered a scorpio black 750GB 7200rpm to speed up a little bit plus more space.
