ATI Mobility issue

XP Pro, SP, current updates, ZA, A^2, Lenovo T60p Dual CPU - 2.1 ghz, 3 Gb computer memory, 3 cent operator memory

ATI Mobility FireGL v5250 vcard with a 2008 driver, the latest I can find.

This is probably the wrong place for this question, but every place I have tried is the wrong place.

I had a configuration in which I fed a duplicate of my T60p screen through the DB15 port to my Flatscreen TV for a much larger picture.

I went into display settings and found that the monitor number 2 (monitor 1 being the laptop itself) was set to a low resolution so I bumped it up to 1280 x 768. Thereupon everything went freaky, the TV turned into monitor 1 and the laptop screen became monitor 2 in an extended screen configuration - where I can scoot stuff from one screen to the other.

After rebooting without the TV connected the laptop screen returned as monitor 1, but when I reconnected the TV it is the extended screen, not the duplicate screen I had and want. And I cannot find _anything_ about getting it changed to that, either onscreen or on the internet.

Can anyone help me find where I must have set it up in the first place? The display settings tab seems to be really, really limited in usefulness.

Thanks, but this gives me exactly what I was complaining about having now, an extended screen _in place of_ the duplicate desktop I had before. As the link you gave clearly says, "How to Extend Display to 2 Monitors." The extended desktop is only a space you can drag junk onto, not a duplicate desktop with all the icons and powers of the desktop. Extended I now have and do not want. I want the duplicate desktop (exact duplicate except for size) that I had before.
