Hey folks,

I recently lost my lovely 15" T60 with T2400 1.83GHz, 100 GB HDD and 2GB Ram to my lovely wife after I replaced the screen with a UXGA model, she just fell in love with it

I'm happy to say that I have found and ordered it's replacement:

Model: T60p
Processor: Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2.33 GHz T7600
Hard Drive Size: 160 GB Hard Drive @ 7200 RPM
RAM (Memory): 2 GB (2048 MB)
Screen Size: 15" 1400x1050 LCD
512 MB ATi FireGL V5250

Now what do you all think about that only thing I see needing is a UXGA in the very near future

Well I received my "new" T60p and it is in absolutely excellent condition and the screen is nice and bright!! The only thing that caught me by surprise is that it came with the Thinkpad badge on the lid and plam rest, not the IBM badge. I did quite a bit of searching on the internet but found almost nothing regarding this topic. The machine is a T60p and it runs beautifully but I was not expecting the TP logo.

Does anybody know or have experience with these models and were they maybe a last production? My only real concern was that they were built with the same quality as the IBM ones.

2004-2005 were the transition years from IBM to Lenovo, although, as you probably know, Lenovo made them prior to that for IBM.

My 2623 DDU has both the IBM and Thinkpad badges on them, so possibly yours was made just after mine. I sincerely doubt there is any other difference between the two.

Does your keyboard feel great? The screen, you mention, is very good, and everything else checks out, so I think you're fine.

By the way, after the transition Lenovo made some improvements to the Thinkpads, including magnesium roll cages, stiffening of certain parts, etc. Most people decry the move away from S IPS panels for the displays, however.

But I'll bet that your T60p, without the IBM badge, is exactly the same as ones with the badge.

There have been discussions about this before - Lenovo was allowed to keep putting the IBM badge on products, and for the *6x thats what they did for most consumer/small order machines. For CTO and enterprises, they all got the Thinkpad logo - all of them were designed and manufactured the same, and the logos can be swapped if you want.

These are fabulous machines...typing on one of them right now...

Atheros abgn card, UXGA LCD if you prefer it over SXGA+ and you're good to go...for a *very* long time.

BTW, I've owned T42/p and T43/p units with "ThinkPad" logos instead of IBM ones...so seeing one on a T6x unit is really not unusual at all, especially for a late model with C2D CPU and V5250 GPU...

the 42T0825 is the Lenovo/Atheros abgn adapter that works perfectly in any T60
ebay has it for under $15 shipped from Atlanta, Georgia!

Please report back on what upgrades you do and how they work out.

No no pester at all, the screen I received with mine was in perfect conditon as was the entire laptop, honestly I would REALLY have to nitpick to find any faults with it, the "te" in delete key is a rubbed off from use and some of the keys have a little bit of shine to them (all the letters and numbers are ok) and thats it other than it came with a Thinkpad logo instead of IBM.

I just got the EXACT same one as you from the same seller! 160gb drive and all!
I won it tonight, so I should get it next week!!!!!!!!!!
