T61 Intel GMA x3100 video max resolution

To whom it may concern,

I have spent the better part of the day searching for the maximum resolution the Intel Video X3100 version of the T61 supports via DVI passthrough (advanced mini dock). I only found data for the infamous Nvidia self-destructing chip, which reportedly has Dual Link DVI and can run 2560-something resolution

Intel says in datasheets that the maximum is 1920x1080 for the 956 GMA, Lenovo says 1600x1200 is maximum for Mini Dock BUT:

Tested this evening with a NEC 2690 - 1920x1200 works at 59hz DVI, also another external monitor runs simultaneously via D-Sub at 1680x1050 with no problems, running windows 7.

Hope this helps someone looking for a screen upgrade.

BTW, can also report that my new NEC 2690wuxi2 - the somewhat maligned second version without ATW polarizer - is outrageously awesome. I haven't seen the first one and do not feel compelled to do so

Peace

I actually just bought one of these, but I have no idea what it will do on an external monitor, but I do know that the 1920x1200 screen was an option, so it should do that resolution, unless that screen required nvidia graphics.

I'd like to know what you find out.

ps, I'd also like to hear what kind of performance loss to expect on my intel based t61, compared to my nVidia.
