Model identification

Bought second hand from e-bay. Great machine... but confused as to which model of T61 I have. It's 14", 7659-CTO or 7659W23 - both are on the label on the bottom. The Lenovo site identifies it as W23... but is it widescreen or not. As 1280/800 native resolution I wouldn't have thought so...

Could do with being sure so I can source a replacement battery... and I think there is difference between widescreen and non widescreenmodels.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Thanks

Need to be sure as I'd

well it is 7659-CTO if that is what it says, it is just a 7659-W23 machine with some additional configuration.

1280x800 is wide screen resolution.

Non-wide screen version for T61 14.1 inch have XGA and SXGA+ resolution.

Widescreen version T61 14.1 inch have 1280x800 and 1440x900 resolution.

The model id of CTO means configure to order. the W23 is based on the CTO, not the other way around.

With that said, the basic shell of the machine shouldn't change. Have you measured the screen, i.e. the actual aspect ratio?

This may help, DL the 2005-present (withdrawn) file, it's big at over 20MB, and search it for you machine type and model using tttt-mmm where tttt is the type (7659) and mmm is the model (CTO or W23) you must include the dash. the lenovo support site and these reference books all use the dash. It's an IBM thing.

I can't seem to find it in the reference book and at 596 pages I don't have the time to search it now), but the Lenovo support site shows what lead-org said, with the resolution and 14.1 screen.

Look in the .pdf for your model # or on lenovo.com and the batteries should show with FRU #s
