T61/T61p Final Production Month of 2008?

With Lenovo's release of the T400/T500 and W500 in July of 2008, does anyone know the final production month of the T61/T61p series?

I have a T61p with a build date of Aug 2008 (08/08 - Yr/Mo) on the bottom label just to the right of the S/N with an August 23, 2012 factory warranty expiration (got the 4-year warranty).

Anyone ever seen any T61/T61p units with Sept or Oct 2008 build dates (08/09 or 08/10))?

i have seen a T61 that was built in October. I have a R61 with Nvidia GPU built in December of 2008.

I own the following date code T61 nVidia models

08/08
08/08
08/09
08/09
08/10
08/10

I also have two that likely have the faulty GPU dated 08/05 and 08/02, the former works great and hopefully will continue to do so, the latter is getting a new board from lenovo.

The two October dates are still under warranty and I sold them within hours of getting them.... they were like gold. One of the 08/09 is a mint one owner with T9300, 4GB and 500GB harddrive. The other 08/09 I got on ebay after bidding on what I thought was an older defective nvidia model. That was pure luck.


My advice if your looking for a late production T61. Try and find a major wholesaler that will let you look at their inventory sheets and look up all the serial numbers, that will tell you the date the warranty ends, and the term, so you can find the day it sold. Most sold only days after manufacture.

Good luck, and let me know if anyone sees any 08/11 date codes., the latest of mine was 10/26/2008 so I think 08/11 is possible.

Looking at ltwbook, you can see that the last announced T61 was in September of 2008
A lot of models have status "US models withdrawn effective May 2009"

Thanks .... the Aug, Sept, and Oct 2008 built T61p 15.4" T9300 units are going to become collectible (along with any late July 2008 units that were also factory built with the good Nvidia GPU during that July 2008 transition month).

I'm constantly on the lookout for 15.4" T9300 T61p units as the Sept and Oct 2008 Built units are just now coming off 3-year corporate leases.
