X300 ( Edge 420) DC adapter

Does anyone have experience with X300 or Edge DC adapters? Lenovo offers one for $100...but interested to hear who has tried this or others DC adapters & your experience/s.

That's just the common 90W/20V adapter as used since ~2007 for the T60 series and newer.
