Charger for Thinkpad X40

I got this Thinkpad X40 here at the "electric town" in Tokyo.
They told me there was something wrong with the 02K6810 Output 16V 3.5A.
I took a closer look, and found out that the wire towards the laptop had some damage.

So I checked my old T23 charger, and it fitted directly. The X40 started up, and charged accordingly.

After checking the specs. I am a little confused/worried. Because the original X40 charger has 16V 3.5A
but the older T23 charger has different specs. Even though the voltage is same (16V), but amperage is different at 4.5A

1.is that something to worry about?

I checked Ebay, and they are selling chargers with the 4.5A output for the X40. But they are not original.
Do I need to worry?
Im in the process of repairing the cable, but that will take some more days, because of lacking the tools.

No need to worry. As long as the voltage is right, and it can supply enough current, you're good.

Akihabara! A Thinkpad paradise! I think I should plan another trip to Japan exclusively to be at Akihabara again

Last time I was there was like 3 years ago, but I guess there will be still plenty of shops selling cheap chargers, even if the one from your T23 works fine, a second adapter is always a good idea. I mean, if it's electronics and you don't find it in Akihabara then it's not invented yet
