How Long Does It Take for Your X40 To Boot?
How Long Does It Take for Your X40 To Boot?
I'm just curious. It seems that it take mine longer than it should given the 1.2Ghz processor and 768Mb of RAM. Anyone else notice that once you hit the log in for WinXP, it takes almost 1-2 minutes before you can do anything? I have pretty much removed most everything from startup, but it seems to take too long before I can launch anything. For what it's worth, I used Norton Ghost to copy my X31 partition, then updated all the drivers to the latest X40 drivers on IBM's website.

Hassen,
Make sure it isn't looking for a network connection that doesn't exist in the current profile.
Shouldn't take more than a minute TOTAL from the time you hit the power switch until it's ready to go.

James

Never thought of that, what is the best way to check this or to eliminate this possibility?JHEM wrote:Hassen,

I know ghosting is probably not the best way to go, especially going from one laptop (X31) to the X40, but everything works great otherwise and it made the migration rather painless. Except for the annoying sound pop issue after restarting from standby, I love my X40. I posted this issue in the old forum and it seems no one else had the same problem.
