2525 Moderboard resistor R2 value?

#1 Post by Orange245 » Sun Apr 08, 2012 8:05 am

Hello

I'm new to this forum and this is my first post.

I have a IBM X41 Type 2525 (not a tablet) and I replaced the power connector on the motherboard, when I did this I did a mistake. I had too much heat and resistor R2 fell off and I couln't find it or which value it had.

The computer works only with the power supply connected, no battery power at all after this operation.

Does anyone here know the value of R2 very near to the power connector on the motherboard?
Thanks in advance

I have an X41t, I should imagine it's the same value...
I read 49.2kΩ, so a 50kΩ should do the trick I would think.

Hope you manage to get it sorted!
Will

(EDIT: I used a somewhat crappy multimeter so don't rely on the measurement too greatly!)

I assume you measured the resistance value without taking the resistor off your motherboard? In that case, that measurement is NOT the true value of the resistor, because you're measuring the resistance of everything else at the same time.
It would be helpful if you can post the numbers printed on the resistor. You'll probably need a magnifier/microscope for that.

Why is it not the true value?
I've looked with a 20x loupe and can't see any marking on the upper side, I don't really want to desolder it to check the other side.

EDIT: Oh, right, cause it's the traces leaving from it will join up...

Sorry for my bad English language...
In my 2525-E2G motherboard chip-resistor R2 has 48.4K value, measured in board (not desoldered).
Try to sold a variable resistor in R2 position and then adjust true resistance.

Hello

I think I'm going to buy a such resistor on ebay. Which dimensions is it? about 50 ohm was very good to know, is it with or without battery charger and battery inserted in the laptop?

I don't ask anyone to desolder their resistor, only if anyone have a already broken motherboard.

Thanks very much for all the answers!

I will desold the SATA-IDE bridge in my 2525 motherboard in this week and i will desold this resistor for you.

Hi!
I desoldered this R2 resistor. It's the SMD chip-resistor 100K (KiloOhms), size 0402.
For example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Philips-0402-Re ... 5d329e2064
