Registry clean software I can boot from?

Is there a registry cleaner that I can boot from? My x41 is throwing windows\system32\config error, and won't boot unless I boot into the dos-like environment via the xp pro installation cd. I need a registry cleaner that will run in that environment, and does not require windows to have loaded.

Don't know of any such apps. Maybe you could go back to a Windows restore point before it got broken, and get Windows running again, then run a registry clean if you want. Can you boot in "Safe Mode"?

What does it have to do with registry ? It is rather corrupted file system.

All these "cleaners" makes a mess only anyway.

No. Can't boot at all....safe mode or otherwise...which is why I have to rely on the "r" option on the XP installation CD.
