Short Backspace? Argh!

#1 Post by TakiusProteus » Fri Apr 22, 2005 2:53 pm

Is anyone else annoyed by keyboards with the short backspace key?

Just as I am about to decide on buying an X, I notice in a picture that it has a short backspace key. I hate accidentally hitting the backslash which takes up the left half of the backspace.

Maybe I should just learn how to type and not bother with it in the first place.
Or get a T. But they're heavy and clunky and don't have the nice battery life. Hmms.

You can't expect a computer size of X40 to have a same size for all keys as other larger notebooks.

The backspace may be small but compared to other notebooks this size the rest of the key (letter, numbers) are full size.
Other notebooks this size have 90% or less of the standard keyboard, AFAIK the X40 has full size keyboard, you should be happy about that.

It is just a custom, I was annoyed a couple of time ago but now I am used to the short backspace.

I found that I was able to adapt to my x31very quickly.. the layout is pretty standard so it's no so bad... actually i think that the IBM setup is much more intuitive that say Toshiba's ... personally I don't have a problem with itl...

I agree I typed on Toshiba Satellite and also on Sony Vaio and it was very annoying. IBM has one of the best layout of keyboard but it goes to be used up very quickly ...
