Rapid Restore Ultra 4 installed as standard when recovered?

#1 Post by KenFodder » Wed Apr 27, 2005 7:43 am

If I created the recovery CDs, and restore my service/hidden partition from the discs does the windows build include the Access IBM software like Rapid Restore Ultra already installed, or do I need to reinstall in from the IBMTools folder?

Also after recovery does it automatically do the convert to NTFS crap again?

Thanks for the reply!

The first question sort of encompassed two questions in one.

1) Is RRU already installed on windows when you restore from the recovery CDs?

2) If not do I need to have previously backup/copy the IBMTools and reinstall it back on?

Also

3) Will recovering from the CDs have the IBMTools folder there or do I need to manually back them up and copy it back if I decide to restore to factory settings?

Sorry to be longwinded want to be sure before I willy-nilly.

Thanks for the help in advance.

If it was on there when you got it from IBM then it will be there when you restore from the recovery CDs. That includes RRU, IBMTools, etc. It will be just like the first time you turned it on.

It is still a good idea to have a separate backup of IBMtools just in case, but you should not need it after a successfull recovery.

1. Yes, when R&R was installed when you took the image. See eggibs' reply.
3. It will have all IBM applications. But again, as eggib said it would not harm to make backup copy of the IBM tools folder.

Edit: I just saw you have the x40 model, which has already originally R&R version 2.02.0178, i.e. the recovered os will also have R&R.
