Vertical line on X31 Screen

#1 Post by ParatoOptimal » Thu Oct 25, 2012 5:49 pm

X31 1.7GHz purchased from this forum suddenly has a white/gray vertical line, 1 pixel wide, 1/4 of the way in from the right edge of the LCD screen.
What could be the problem?

Thanks

The line driver is probably damaged. Apparently they can come loose over time. Sometimes you can squeeze, or flex the lid just a bit, and the line may go away temporarily. You might be able to put a piece of tape on the frame, or some thin foam padding between the panel and the lid, to make it work longer. If that doesn't work, you'll need to replace the LCD panel.

Could it be time for an SXGA+ upgrade?

SXGA+ is good choice but it requires special BIOS that I personally haven't been able to source. If someone has SXGA+ BIOS for X31/32 I would be happy to receive a PM :)

I went for XGA IPS route as it didn't require different BIOS, the panels are readily available and cheap and it looks stunning.

Thank you, both!

Do you have a link?
I've never worked on or replaced a monitor.
I don't suppose the connector under the keyboard could simply be lose.

Not given the symptoms you've described.
