Some keys no longer working. Any chance of fixing it?

#1 Post by ti » Fri Oct 26, 2012 7:40 am

The keyboard on my x41t is developing some issues. I've tried taking the keys out and cleaning, taking out the keyboard and plugging it back in, but no good. Given that all the failures are in the same area it seems like a circuit issue and not anything mechanical that I can fix, but if I'm wrong I would love to know!

I think the PgUp and Home keys failed first, followed by Delete and then the Plus/Minus keys within the space of a day or two. It could also be that they all failed at once and I didn't notice. PgDn, End, and BackSpace are all fine (so far).

Any ideas on fixing it besides getting a new keyboard?

unfortunately there us nothing you can do to fix it, personally have tried and its mostly just a waste of time, the fun part of it is that i get to break it a part and see how it was made :)

May I suggest to install a little freeware utility called "virtual keyboard".
It installs a translucent tablet-style keyboard on your screen you can control via the mouse.
Yes the ultimate solution is keyboard replacement but IMHO this one is worth a try....
Just google "virtual keyboard free"
