x30 woes...

#1 Post by djames » Fri Apr 29, 2005 10:53 am

hey all,

I have a x30 and for the life of me im hoping to get some guidance on some of the issues i have.

1st: i have updated to the latets BIOS (using the little widget on the ibm support page) and also all other hardware bios utilities.

I still cannot close the lid and force the machine to sleep, i mean what else do i have to do? Is there a way to totally flush the bios and start again?

2nd: i purchased a IBM wireless card for the laptop and installed. Installation was ok and the card works, but when you boot the laptop up, you get a 10 second delay and hen a error message saying there is one r more ethernet devices installed, press esc to continue or f1 to go into the bios.

Has any other X30 owners experienced the above issues?

Thanks

I purchased what I think is a refurbished X30 last month. Has a sticker on the bottom "Used Equipment". Model 267342U. The BIOS is 1KET46WW (1.07) 07/02/2004.

It goes into Standby with FN-F4 and recovers with FN. A couple of times I have closed the screen by mistake and it did not go into standby. But after reading your msg, I tried it again and it did work properly.

My Thinkpad experience is Models 701 and 570 so I have no experience with WinXP until now. The choices that can be made in the Power section of Control panel are confusing to me.

Use battery maximizer and adjust the settings to "When closing lid, standby". I think that may solve the problem
