Compact Flash slot cover for X31

#1 Post by sktn77a » Fri Apr 29, 2005 11:56 am

I've hunted and hunted for the part number for the compact flash slot cover for my X31. All I can find is a reference to the slot itself. Anyone know the part number or a reference for it?

Thanks
Keith

Keith,

It's part of the 67P1453 miscellaneous parts group, but you could also try looking up part no. 91P8520 on IBM parts.

Thanks guys! After suffering watching my kids pound happily away on their wireless-equipped T4x notebooks for the last couple of years, dad's employer finally got him a replacement for the old (and heavy) wired T30. Just got to cover up that gaping hole in the side - it's last owner wasn't as meticulous as I!

Thanks. I have already ordered it through my company but if something goes awry, I'll take you up on that offer.

I always thought that little, removable cover was the sort of part that is guaranteed to get lost. You might as well just pull it off and throw it away to begin with. I do think I could lay hands on my own cover, if my life depended on it, but I long ago just chucked it into my desk drawer and I go around everywhere with the CF slot uncovered (or sometimes filled). I do rather wish IBM had put a little, flip-up door on it, as they did on their PC card slot. Not sure they have room for that though.

I will say this, I really, really like having the CF slot. I use it all the time. All my cameras are CF, so having that slot works out very well for me.
