Vista Drivers for X30

#1 Post by slvrldy17 » Wed Feb 06, 2013 9:44 pm

Recently installed Vista Home premium on an X30 for a student friend and was generally pleased with the outcome - some XP drivers work and all of the hardware works although the Video performance is a bit lacking. What is lacking is a driver for the Intel video chip. The XP driver is a no go - it tries to reinstall every time the computer is booted and causes more trouble than it solves. Has anyone found a working Vista Driver for the Intel 830MG chipset and the "AGP - Intel Extreme Graphics - 8.0 MB " Graphics processor? Any ideas would be welcome.

The GPU in question is way to weak for Vista and hence not officially supported.

I doubt that even a modded driver exists.

Why not stick with XP on that machine, I'm rather curious?

Yes, Use version 6.14.10.3741 for Stylistic 4110 from Fujitsu. I attest this driver works with ThinkPad X30 and Windows 6.0. I did not discover anything; knowledge of the driver was contributed in July 2007 to Mobile PC Wiki by NorthernRebel.

automobus - Thank You! - I'll give the Fujitsu driver a try. Hopefully the last needed element...

ajkula66 - We can do without the Areo "glass" look for this install - the appearance in many ways is XP like and Vista is a much more secure OS that will be supported until sometime in 2017 - it boils down to using what we have to get a kid with no or limited resources a working machine - a donated machine and O/S in this case - that will run the stuff she needs to use for her class work. I do this work for a local church where there are many people that are still on hard times - quite a satisfying way to "give back" or "pay it forward" by helping others - older Thinkpads in the T and X series are the preferred machines for this as they are sturdy and generally quite reliable hardware wise.
