X41 vs X41 Tablet
Hi. I was wondering if anybody knew around when to expect the X41 tablet to be released. I am using an X31 now and would want to upgrade to an X41 Tablet, but if it will not be out by August, I would just get the X41 for now and then get a tablet later.
Also, I can't seem to understand the bluetooth modules for the X41 series. Can the bluetooth module be installed in the ULV 1.1-GHz X41 notebook? How about the fingerprint reader?

Are you sure you are upgrading?
The X41 consumes considerable more power than the X40 because of the Somonia chip set. The integrated graphics is better than the X40. The size and weight of the X41 with its 8-cell batter is similar to the X31 with its 6-cell batter. The X41 uses a non-standard prioritory 1.8 inch, slow, 4200 rmp, HDD. Yes, there is a standard for 1.8 inch drives, but the drive in the X41 does not meet the standard.
IMO, the X41 is thiner and more sexier than the X31. However, when it comes to performance the X31 comes out on top. So are you updating the looks or the performance? Of course you could have an older X31 with a slower CPU, and you could be upgrading both. Furthermore, the Tablet X41 could be thicker than the non-tablet X41.

In the articles I have read, the new graphics on the X41 put it well ahead of the 16mb discreet video in the X3x...not that it matters a whole lot since games aren't a primary use for either model. The X41 also includes the fingerprint reader....which isn't available on the X3x series.
I thought I read somewhere the X41 tablets were expected in June...maybe just a rumor tho. You can add the bluetooth daughter card to the X41...all X4x's ship with the antenna allready installed (thanks JHEM for educating me about this
) The fingerprint reader is standard on the X41's...but can't be added to the X40 (or X3x) series.

What matters to me most is size. Performance is not an issue. I have a 1.3-GHz X31 now. I would be getting a ULV 1.1-GHz X41 if I get one. The ability to have BOTH the 8-cell batter AND the 4-cell battery is brilliant for me I think. I can choose to have the laptop be light or have more battery for when I'd need it. The nonstandard hard drive is annoying, but not horrible in my opinion. By the time I would want to upgrade it, I would sell it anyway.

I think we'll be waiting awhile for the X41 tablet. The FCC has been asked to dismiss FCC approval on the prototype submitted in April.
