where to download mediamatics dvd player?

#1 Post by jealouse » Thu Jun 17, 2004 11:17 pm

hello

where do i download mediamatics dvd player? ibm download website for thinkpad x24 has only update files. i tried to install it but unless original version is installed, one can not use the updated version.

which brings another question. am i entitled to own it? i mean, i have x24 that came with w2k, although i have replaced HDD and i have not ordered the recovery disc yet. (thus no recovery partition on HDD) i also own ultrabase X2 and ultrabay 2k dvd/cd-rom.

i have older version of powerdvd palyer but id rather have mediamatics one since its genuine ibm - whatever that means

comment appreciated thanx

now i have a problem

#5 Post by jealouse » Fri Jun 18, 2004 12:04 pm

i downloaded "DVDExpress-27L2581.ISO" from the FTP site and i unziped the file using winrar program. so far no problem.

but once i try to install the program by running setup.exe, the computer tries to read HDD for 10 seconds or so...and then nothing.

same thing happens when i launch setup.exe again.

is the program defective? or am i missing something?

not sure what to do. help appreciated. thanx

Burn the ISO to a cd disc and run it from there. There may be some absolute naming (verses relative location naming) in the setup file that is failing because you are unzipping the ISO and ISOs are actually disk images so they'd have root naming structures.
