standby mode problem

#1 Post by wfb4000 » Sat May 14, 2005 11:43 pm

I have an x40 thinkpad. I just purchased it about a month ago. Last night, while I was online, my screen turned black- then the machine automatically went into standby mode. I pressed the Fn key to get out of this mode. It did-the screen turned on again-but it went into standby mode again. I did this about a couple of times but the same thing happened. Then the x40 went into and out of standby mode on its own three times before it ended up in standby mode. I called up ibm tech service and the technician told me to send it in so that they can take a look at it.

Now it seems to be working just fine. I've used it all day today.

Has this happened to anyone? Should I be concerned? Should I send it to the ibm techs? My system runs windows xp.

Open Power Options in Control Panel, in System standby, click the time you want for battery and AC mode.
